| THE STORY: |
| Zelos is the Chosen of Tethe'alla, which is a matyred religious figure similar to that of the messiah. The Chosen is supposed to offer his or her life up in order to maintain the balance of life in the world, and keep the world from dying. Zelos never thought that he was the one to do this, and despite his narcissistic behavior, truly hates himself. Behind his aloof and flirtateous behavior lies a man who is full of self-loathing and pain. Even his own mother told him that he wasn't supposed to be born, implying that his half-sister Seles or the child Zelos could've been would have been a better Chosen. As time went on and Zelos met a certain group of individuals from Silverant, it was learned that the practice of the Chosen was false, and only a manipulation of the higher race of Desians (half-elves) over the two lower worlds. Eventually the whole farse was revealed and the muddy political waters slowly cleared. The two worlds made seperate by the Desians were reuinited, and the false religion of the Church of Martel shut down to a signifigant degree. So now, Zelos is running away from his problems. While Zelos still has major pull in Meltokio, he feels that he still is causing more harm than help. He's hoping that by wandering to other worlds he'll learn something about taking responsibility, since he'd rather shun it right now. Not only that, but he's afraid that the old practice of the Chosen giving his or her life may come into play despite the efforts made to end the cycle of Martel. Zelos doesn't want to give his life for something that has no meaning, so he fled. He's now packed up and left Tethe'alla, and after a bit of wandering found the way to Arcadia. |
